Free CMS Suitable For A Low Disk Space

- Website Creation With le.CMS

By: Catalin Bocanu, Web News Editor

There are situations when you run out of disk space on your webhosting account or you do not have the rights to create a new database. When your disk space is low, a lightweight content management
system could help you if you need to create an easy to manage (update) website.

le.CMS is a PHP content management system that uses flat files for the storage of content. The particularity of this lightweight CMS (the distribution archive has less than 100 KB) resides in the fact that every PHP web page has a corresponding text file in which the content is stored and, as a consequence, the loading speed of different individual web pages for every different HTTP request will have almost the same order of magnitude.

As compared with a content management system having a database backend, when the database queries execution time is different depending on various factors, this particularity of le.CMS could be regarded as a major advantage. The le.CMS application is also easy to install: you just have to unzip the distribution archive content and upload all files in a certain folder on your web server.

This CMS uses a .htaccess file where the URLs rewrite rules are specified. Before uploading the archive content, you will have to edit the .htaccess file by specifying your domain name and contact.php file where the domain name and also your email address must also be provided.

The addition of new pages can be performed from the administration panel. The pages layout can be easily customized by editing the desired lines in corresponding CSS files. The navigation menu, search index, images upload and more other actions can also be performed through the administration panel interface. This type of content management system could be used for products presentation websites or personal websites that have up to ten or twenty pages. e.CMS could be a rapid solution for any situation when you are unable to use a content management system driven database.
