PopCap Games has just launched a version of its Bejeweled game for the Safari Web browser. The best thing about the offer is that the game comes fully for free.

Bejeweled is the first puzzle game to be available for free on mobile phones. The iPhone comes with no games packed, which makes this news even more appealing. PopCap has adapted the old mobile game concept as to perfectly suit the performances that Apple's phone brings. It uses the Web 2.0 capabilities of the Safari browser and wireless capabilities that the smartphone comes packed with.

"We wanted to give the hundreds of thousands of iPhone users a fun, fast gaming fix - and at no cost, no less", said Andrew Stein, Director of Mobile Platforms at PopCap. Because of this, "We're excited to be providing the most popular puzzle game of the 21st century to users of the most advanced mobile device yet created", he further declared. Sounds like the perfect match heading towards success and a large amount of popularity for the mobile game developer company.

Bejeweled is a puzzle game which manages to make the player want for more, no matter whether he wins or not. It's the kind of challenge built on an old concept of matching jewels of the same type, but highly catchy. The bright, vivid colors make gameplay quite enjoyable and relaxing for many hours.

PopCap developed the Safari-based version of Bejeweled in partnership with Polish developer Arkadiusz Mlynarczyk. This is one of the first programmers to see in the iPhone's capabilities a ground with great potential for video gaming.

Bejeweled is one of the most popular mobile games coming from this company. Along with Zuma, it has managed to reach a huge number of mobile phones, after the PC world proved to be insufficient for them. Bejeweled will be available from now on for a free download from PopCap's website for all iPhone owners.
