The Mac App Store staff are on a roll here with recommending Free Apps. We have seen some of the best ones for iPhone and iPad and now comes the turn for Mac Apps and Games.

The new selection is a pretty short one, but the apps are truly the best out there. This new list has only 20 apps and the same number of games for your Mac. They are free, but some of the good ones have extra features that you can get via in-app purchase.

The first Featured app is a classic: Evernote. This powerful everything drawer is a great way to remember lifelong memories and vital information. Daily reminders, to-do lists, or just your favorite pizza recipes, everything can go into Evernote and you can surely find it later. One of the best features of Evernote is the OCR feature. You can take advantage of that when you throw PDFs or pictures.

Another great addition is Microsoft OneNote, an app with similar functionality and a rich history with Microsoft.

Simplenote, however, is a very different kind of app. Derived from the awesome open source note-taking app nvALT (Notational Velocity), Simplenote takes the speed and features and gets them a new face. This app is one of the best ways to keep notes, lists, ideas, or just snippets of text that you may need in the future. As soon as you type something in it you are going to have it synced to simplenote.com and to its iOS counterparts.

Wunderlist does not need any introduction. This is an award-winning ToDo manager that has everything you need to run your business or to make sure you don't miss anything from your shopping list.

Weather-related apps like swackett or Weather and simple photo editing apps like Skitch, Fotor, and Composure made it on this list. One other great app is the good, old TextWrangler, and don't forget to install the most useful utility in the App Store – The Unarchiver. This last one looks like the app Apple forgot to include in the operating system. Just a real free app (no in-app-purchase) that will open most archived files and will spit out the folders you need for your Mac to recognize.

When it comes to Games, the selection is awesome. CSR Racing, Pocket Planes, and Shadowgun made it on this list as well.

Discover all of them in the App Store and make sure to download them, if only for the reason that they are free and awesome.
