Microsoft has officially discontinued Messenger earlier this month

A free software solution aimed at Windows users promises to restore Windows Live Messenger, as the application is no longer supported by Microsoft’s Messenger service.

The so-called Messenger Reviver 2 packs a very user-friendly interface and attempts to patch several files included in your Windows Live Messenger installation in order to allow the app login to the main server.

As you have probably heard by now, Microsoft discontinued the WLM client earlier this month, but the Messenger service continues to be available for third-party clients.

The company encourages everyone to make the switch to Skype, as its VoIP also includes a built-in Messenger plus top-notch VoIP capabilities.

Messenger Reviver 2 is supposed to work on all Windows versions currently on the market and requires .NET Framework 2.0 or higher.

The patching process shouldn’t take more than a few seconds for the compatible Windows Live Messenger 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012 versions.
