The 3D Systems website is hosting the full ensemble

Halloween is approaching. Not very quickly, but it's still pretty close. Three weeks or so away. That means that people are starting to dig out their costumes, or working on new ones. 3D Systems wants in on the action.

As one of the foremost names on the 3D printing industry, 3D Systems isn't about to miss out on the chances provided by the upcoming Holiday.

Sure, the occasion is mostly a US event, but it has started to be adopted by other regions and countries as well, throughout Europe and the other continents.

And since we've already seen 3D printed clothing (dresses, headdresses, shirts) and footwear (Nike is really excited about 3D printing), it makes sense that costumes would be next.

Get a 3D printed Halloween costume model for free

Do it now, Cubify says. Or get two. Or three. Or however many you want. As long as you own a 3D printer, or have access to a 3D printing shop or service, a download is all you need to do.

Cubify is a website and trademark belonging to 3D Systems in case you didn't already know. The new special Halloween section allows you to get models for whole costumes, as well as various trinkets and attachments.

In the list you'll find the obligatory bats and jack-o-lanterns, skulls, masks, horned chibi devils, spiders, etc. There's even a model for a mustache, if that's your kind of thing.

Obviously, it falls to you to provide the material (filament, powder, resin, depending on the type of printer you own), so it's not going to be totally free.

Still, if you're the type of person who would invest time and money into making their own costumes out of paper, cardboard and spare fabric from old shirts, you may as well change some of those for more durable and better fitting, not to mention better looking, 3D printed versions. Especially since glue and glitter are going to stick to them just fine.

Some perks available for those who are willing to pay something

While the whole point of the new Cubify website section is to have a great time with free goodies (setting aside the cost of 3D printing itself), 3D Systems does have some things for sale too.

One of them is a special Halloween cartridge pack, which will earn you some material for the Cube 3D Printer. If you buy at least four, you can pay $49 / €39 a piece. Also, $69.99 / €55.80 will allow you to upload a photo and get a 3D figurine of you made in any one of the following: a zombie, a vampire, a witch, a mummy, a man wielding a machete, etc.
