Protect your assets by not providing sensitive information to crooks

A typical survey scam in which cybercrooks try to dupe unsuspecting Facebook users into clicking on links can be seen roaming the social network, promising members a free Shell Gas card worth $100 (70 EUR).

“Free $100.00 Shell Gas Card!! (limited time only) [Link Removed] Shell is currently giving away $100.00 gas cards to all facebook users!!” reads the phony message provided by Hoax Slayer.

In these types of scams, no one actually wins anything, except for the masterminds which launch the operation. They earn an amount of money for each Internet user they redirect to the fake survey page.

Beware of such advertisements and never provide any sensitive information to websites that offer fabulous prizes. Even a simple email address can be highly useful for the crooks since they can initiate other, more malicious, campaigns.
