At this time of year, many retailers are offering considerable discounts and many Internet users are anxious to benefit from the great deals. Cybercriminals are taking this opportunity to set up fraud websites.

Experts from security firm Websense have analyzed a number of fraud sites. One of them is swarovskisale.co.

The site has nothing to do with Swarovski, the world-renowned crystal and related luxury products provider. However, the site is well designed and the domain looks genuine, except for the fact that it’s hosted on a .co (Colombia) top level domain.

After investigating this particular fraud website, researchers have noticed that the same cybercriminal collective set up over 1,500 domains similar to the ones of popular companies.

Some interesting examples are:
- mulberryorderonline.com
- nikenfloutlet.com
- taschenlouisvuitton-de.info
- prada-fr.info
- uggbootssoutlettonline.com

Users are advised to be cautious when shopping online. Make sure that the sites you visit are legitimate, otherwise you could end up handing over your money to fraudsters.

Got caught with this Swarovski website end of December looked genuine until I received email after order had no idea it wasn't legit everything was all in English and genuine Swarovski images. 3 weeks later receive bracelet looks like from a market plastic and nasty! Websites should be shutdown to prevent this from happening.

This is a scam website, the method of payment is initially offered as almost any method is OK (including paypal) but then they direct you to master card or a transfer via western union. There was no receipt and all correspondence was in broken English with poor responses to my questions. They just pasted language from their website. When I asked if this was Swarofski product, they replied that their jewelry was "100% new". Ugh. After about 10 emails and activating the fraud prices with my credit card (thank you master card) they eventually refunded my money. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SITE - IT IS A SCAM!

Why do the authorities not shut down the website, instead of leaving them open to other potential victims? Not everyone reads these advisory notices.
