Sister Ariana Grande posts incident four days before launching new album

The Twitter account of Frankie Grande has been hacked on Thursday, the perpetrator leaving an explicit message to his sister, singer Ariana Grande.

Frankie Grande is currently in the “Big Brother” house, with no access to the microblogging service, but he left the keys to his account to his sister, who posted about the incident.

The message addressed to her by the hacker, someone with the Twitter handle @LordCynical, was as short and explicit as possible, clearly showing that Ariana is not on the list of favorite individuals, either because of her singing or social behavior. With no impunity, he tweeted: “suck my ['fowl' name here] @ArianaGrande.”

The response from the singer, who has a verified Twitter account with over 17.6 million followers, was to laughingly announce that her brother’s tweet feed was under the control of someone else. She also said that the problem was being dealt with, but 14 hours after the takeover, the explicit message is still live on Frankie’s 728,000-follower-strong Twitter space.

The hacker also tweeted from the hijacked account that following @LordCynical will be rewarded with a follow from Frankie Grande.

He mentioned that relinquishing control of the handle is just a matter of Frankie asking him to. However, with the “Big Brother” show restricting access outside the house, Twitter may have to step in and solve the problem.

Or all this may very well be a publicity stunt to promote her latest studio album, “My Everything,” slated for release on August 25.

In fact, there is some evidence to support this theory, since @LordCynical seems to be a recent account, with only 61 tweets posted, the first one published an hour before announcing the Twitter hack.

The first action taken by the hacker seems to be to follow Frankie Grande’s account and someone with the Twitter handle @Neigh.

As far as the number of followers is concerned, 10,000 of them can be added with as little as $20 / €15; and there are plenty of services to pick from, a search on Google is enough to check some of them; in some cases the followership is guaranteed for a specific period of time.

Shortly after announcing the hack on her account, Ariana Grande posted the new number for YouTube views of her "Break Free" song, which had reached 20 million.

Her latest tweet seeks to promote "My Everything" on iTunes, informing that the album launches in only four days.
