A frankenfish caught in northern Virginia is shattering records at over 17.5 pounds (8 kg). Caleb Newton is the lucky angler who reeled in the giant fish, and he is featured in the photo posted above.

According to Los Angeles Times, the snakehead fish was caught this summer and it has just been confirmed as a Guinness Book of World Records title winner.

The snakehead fish was caught in the Aquia Creek in about a minute, according to the angler. The invasive species is usually found in China, Russia, and North and South Korea. It has been dubbed the frankenfish because of its scary, sharp teeth and yellow eyes.

The Potomac River is currently being flooded with snakehead fish, which are posing a problem for the other animals in the river. Maryland's Department of Natural Resources has put out a contest awarding fishermen for catching them.
