Frank Grillo starred as Brock Rumlow in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” the second installment in the Marvel franchise, but he says fans shouldn’t lose hope of seeing his character again, perhaps even evolving into Crossbones.

In a new interview cited by AceShowbiz, Grillo keeps fans guessing by saying that, in Marvel’s universe, absolutely anything can happen. Duh. Of course, chances are that even if he knew for a fact he’d return, he wouldn’t be allowed to say it right now, not when there’s still such a long way to go until the film is out.

“I mean, I'm cautiously optimist that you will see me in the not too distant future in the next installment of Captain America,” Grillo says.

He makes it sound as if there is nothing set in stone just now, as if not even he knows if Rumlow is coming back and becoming Crossbones, but it’s more likely that he’s barred from revealing whatever he knows, if anything of importance.

“So, you know, it's obvious Rumlow is covered in rubble and burned to crisp at the end, but you see he's still there. They don't do that for no reason,” Grillo continues.

The third “Captain America” movie drops on the same day as Zack Snyder’s “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” in May 2016. However, until then, fans will be able to “catch up” with this superhero and his Avengers mates in “Age of Ultron,” which is scheduled for theatrical release in 2015.
