France’s Ministry of Defense has launched a “network of cyberdefense reservists” whose main goal is to raise awareness regarding cyber threats in an effort to contribute to the country’s cyber security.

According to ZDNet, the new network currently comprises around 40 citizens and it’s divided into six work groups.

Despite the fact that the organization is linked to France’s military and its National Agency for IT Security, it doesn’t have a say in either’s operations.

One of the working groups will focus on raising awareness among youths, two others will target companies – both large and small –, one relies on the work of journalists and other individuals with an interest in the “emergence of cyberdefense culture,” and one will focus on universities, think thanks and laboratories.

Another group is aimed at the “evolution of citizen involvement” in cyberdefense.
