Is there anything more a gamer needs?

You must know about the Frag Dolls. They are Ubisoft's proof that girls too exist on "the interweb" and that not only can they play games that boys like, but they can also kick some ass while doing it. The original American Frag Dolls were recruited in 2004 and since then they've spent their time as game ambassadors, touring with the Major League Gaming console professional circuit in the 2005 season, as well as in the 2007 season.

In December 2006, they placed first in the Rainbow Six: Vegas tournament at CPL (Cyberathlete Professional League), making them the first all-female team to win a pro circuit tournament. Some hardcore gamers dismissed them as booth babes with little to no interest in games, but their gaming results speak for themselves. They maintain a website dedicated to their exploits here.

Now, Ubisoft wants to "exploit" them further and has announced that the UK Frag Dolls, consisting of Jam, Kitt and Sarin, will be attempting to go into the Guinness World Records: Gamer's Edition 2009. Their challenge is to attempt a 24-hour Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 multiplayer marathon on Xbox Live, just a few days after the game hits on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

The attempt at world fame and Guiness Book recognition will be part of i33, a LAN party event at Newbury Racecourse that goes on from March 21 to 24. The Frag Dolls are encouraging players to pick up Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, especially the Xbox 360 version they'll be playing, and take part in their attempt by sending Live friend requests to Jam FDUK, Kitt FDUK and Sarin FDUK, their gaming tag names. On Saturday, a select number of those that send the friend requests will be chosen to face off with the girl gamers. The mutiplayer match will go on until no one is left standing.

Although such an event is clearly a marketing ploy to attract Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 sales, Ubisoft has really chosen an effective marketing strategy by employing the Frag Dolls.
