SteelSeries is one of the best known manufacturers and suppliers of gaming gear and the company just announced the launch of two new professional gaming mice that are aimed at top level gamers: the SteelSeries Ikari Optical and SteelSeries Ikari Laser mice. The new mice are aimed at complementing the already existing SteelSeries gaming gear that consists of headsets, keyboards, surfaces, accessories and security software
suites.

The SteelSeries Ikari series is the result of more than a year of research in ergonomics, technology, shape and motion and the company was helped in the design process by inputs and suggestions from professional gamers like those from Team 3D, compLexity, mousesports, SK Gaming, Team NoA. According to the company's press release concerning the launch of the two new mice, their body has been treated with a special covering in order to provide an anti-sweat and anti-slip surface for the best possible gaming experience.

The SteelSeries Ikari Optical mouse is specifically designed and manufactured for gamers enjoying FPS matches and contest and it does not require a driver in order to function properly, being the perfect choice for those unannounced LAN parties. The optical mouse also features an improved glide and handling that is achieved by reducing friction with the supporting surface. The ability to toggle between two DPI (dots per inch) settings allows users to select their preferred presets for optimal results.

The SteelSeries Ikari Laser are designed to be the ultimate gaming device in RTS and MMO games as it features a number of programmable buttons that can be used as shortcuts for macro functions as well as a driverless and plug and play construction. Just like the Optical series, the Laser lineup features an improved and ergonomic design for a better glide on the supporting surface and as an additional feature it supports DPI changing and a LCD readout.
