Fractal Design Delivers New Core PC Case

It appears that, unlike so many other companies that fell silent over the past week, Fractal Design came forth and announced a new addition to its product lineup, a certain PC case meant for consumers that like their systems large and massive.

The past week seems to have been one of those times when the IT industry goes into a sort of hibernation.

Many product announcements were already made at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show and immediately after it.

Now, it seems that hardware and system makers have taken a break, possibly holding back new releases in preparation for the upcoming electronics show.

There is also the fact that China is celebrating the Lunar New Year, so many suppliers have taken time off.

Fractal Design is, thus, one of the few who still released new products, its announcement dealing with the Core 3000 case, much like how Antec decided to release some cases of its own as well.

It has a pair of external 5.25-inch drive bays, for ODDs (optical disk drives) or anything else that uses that form factor, like fan controllers or drive cages.

Fractal Design also made sure to put in six internal 3.5-inch HDD bays, split between two cases, the top one being even removable, so as to allow long graphics cards enough room.

What's more, three fans are present, two of which are 140mm-long and are placed on top and at the front, respectively, while the third is a 120mm spinner set at the rear.

Other specifications include support for ATX, micro ATX and mini ITX motherboards, plus an I/O panel with four USB 2.0 ports. Finally, two pre-drilled watercooling holes exist, for enthusiasts that want superior heat management.

So far, no word was given on when sales of the Fractal Design Core 3000 will start, nor at what price.
