The boards are aimed for use in nettops and will likely become available in a few weeks

Even though it hasn't introduced any mobile PCs or low-power systems yet, Foxconn doesn't seem to be all that far behind. The internet saw a new addition to its large number of leaked motherboard photos, with two particular pictures depicting two upcoming boards based on Intel's Pine Trail platform. The products are set to be released by Foxconn soon and both use the mini-ITX form factor and are equipped with an embedded Atom central processing unit.

The two motherboards are dubbed the D41S and D51S. Set to be used as basis for low-power systems, more commonly known as nettops, both products make use of DDR2 memory and have very little expansion possibilities. On the other hand, nettops will definitely perform satisfactorily thanks to the processing power and memory capacity of up to 4GB.

Both boards have similar design and, as such, similar features. The maximum memory capacity is the aforementioned 4GB. This is enabled by two single-channel DDR2 800 DIMM memory slots. Graphics capabilities are provided by the integrated Intel GMA 3150 graphics and expansion possibilities are limited to a single PCI slot. In addition, the chipset has two SATA 3 Gb/s ports and the rear panel is built with four USB 2.0 ports, six-channel HD audio, Gigabit Ethernet and connectors for D-Sub, PS/2 and parallel ports.

The only differing feature of the two mini-ITX motherboards is their processors. The D41S has an embedded 1.66 GHz single-core Atom D410 processor, which is passively cooled, whereas the dual-core Atom D510 used by the D51S makes use of a fan-heatsink.

Of course, since this is a preview of two as-of-yet unannounced products, there is no information on the release date or the price of the motherboards. Still, the likelihood is for both to become available during the next few weeks. The actual price will eventually determine the popularity of Foxconn's items.
