With Computex now unraveling, Foxconn decided to do what everyone else present did and offer users a look at some of the products it has on sale as well as on the way, one of the latter being the X79 motherboard.

It appears that motherboard makers from around the globe have convened in Taipei, Taiwan, brought together there by the occasion provided by the 2011 edition of the Computex trade show.

Foxconn, of course, is one of those companies, and while Gigabyte might have been faster, the former did not dally either.

Basically, the company revealed its own motherboard based on the X79 chipset, this being the latest Intel platform, known as Sandy Bridge-E.

The Quantum Force X79, as it is known right now, appears to be a high-end product according to the photos uncovered by the folks over at VR-Zone.

One element of note is the number of PCI Express slots, four to be precise, meaning that both NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossFireX multi-GPU configurations are supported (probably).

Additionally, there are no less than eight SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) ports, alongside six SATA connectors, for much storage.

Speaking of storage, a pair of USB 3.0 ports on the back panel will enable communication with external devices like portable HDDs, SSDs, optical, units etc.

Also, two eSATA connectors exist, plus 7.1 channel audio, a debut LED and the expected set of four DDR3 memory slots.

Finally, for overclocking enthusiasts, Foxconn implemented a Clear CMOS button, along with Power and Reset ones.

Unfortunately, even though the company did have a preview board ready, it will be months before the Quantum Force X79 starts shipping.

Simply put, this product, along with all the other X79 so far revealed or set to be developed, will only reach the market in the fourth quarter of the ongoing year (2011).
