Foxconn, one of the leading manufacturers of motherboards, graphics cards, chassis and coolers, has just unveiled its first AMD platform motherboard in its high performance Quantum Force product range. Dubbed the "Destroyer", this mobo has been designed to pack some serious high-performance punch, based on the NVIDIA 780a SLI MCP.

Thanks to its NVIDIA chipset, the board will be capable of supporting the latest AMD Phenom processors, along with socket AM2 Athlon and Sempron CPUs. It features HyperTransport 3.0 technology, which will increase available bandwidth between CPU and other system components, thus making the board suitable for some high-performance desktop computer systems. "This is the first Quantum Force solution for the AMD platform, and we are certainly very happy with the result", said Greta Kuo, Quantum Force Product Manager.

Apparently, Foxconn expects this board to "push the envelope of AMD desktop performance", as it comes bundled with innovations such as Quantum Bios and extended heat pipe solution. This thermal solution is designed to remove heat from the northbridge through a radiator fitting that can be mounted outside the PC case.

The board comes with four PCI Express 2.0 graphics slots that can be used for 4-way, 3-way or 2-way NVIDIA SLI configurations. As it is built with the NVIDIA chipset, the board offers support for Hybrid SLI setups. The Destroyer provides support for DDR2 1066 (overclocked) memory, on the four memory DIMMs that feature a color code, for better dual-channel support.

The board was obviously designed with the overclocking enthusiasts' needs in mind. With the bundles Aegis-Panel, Windows users can easily overclock and monitor the technical features of their systems. Foxconn even comes with a couple of accessories, like the Quantum Lap motherboard tray and the Quantum Flow cooling kit.

The price of the Destroyer is expected to be around $300 and it will be made available this month at retail partners.
