This year's Computex has been the place where several motherboard makers have showcased a couple of their yet-to-be-released products, some of which are based on the much-anticipated Lynnfield-supporting P55 chipset. These new processors are to provide computer enthusiasts with features that are already available in the new Core i7 processors, but in a more affordable package.

Foxconn is one of those motherboard makers that will launch several models on the P55 chipset, enabling support for both traditional and enthusiast computer users. One of their high-end upcoming products, dubbed Inferno Katana, has just gone through a photo shoot, revealing some of its unique features.

The Inferno Katana will be based on the P55 chipset and will provide users with support for the upcoming LGA1156 processors, featuring Intel's Turbo Boost technology. Part of the company's Quantum Force family, the Inferno Katana will also boast three PCIe 2.0 x16 slots, with support for both CrossFireX and NVIDIA SLI multi-GPU technologies, as well as four dual-channel DDR3 memory DIMMs with support for up to 1800MHz. These will be pretty much standard on most P55-based motherboards, but the Inferno Katana ups the ante with a few more tweaks.

The board will feature an advanced motherboard power system, which includes a 12-phase Hybrid PWM and DirectFEt MOSFET technology for the CPU power and 2 phases for the VTT and Mem. In addition, Foxconn will enable a number of overclocking and tweaking solutions to enable enthusiasts to take full advantage of the overclocking capabilities of Intel's future Lynnfield processors.

The fellows over at ninjalane.com were lucky enough to get a glimpse at the unique features that will be enabled on the next-generation Foxconn Intel platform. Unfortunately, the specific details regarding pricing and release date are yet to become official.
