Panel meets to bash rival network but Ashburn’s admission turns the tables

In a recent segment, a panel of Fox News journalists and contributors were talking about CNN and their incessant coverage of the missing Malaysian airplane, in a bid to prove that the rival network was unprofessional in so doing.

Things didn’t exactly go as planned, as the video above will show.

Trying to offer arguments to support host Howard Kurtz’s observation that CNN was letting other major news stories slip through without paying them any attention because of how focused they were on the missing plane, contributor Lauren Ashburn actually managed to pay the network an unsolicited compliment.

To Kurtz’s comment that CNN is choosing ratings over journalistic integrity because the plane story brings ratings but translates into overlooking other stories, Ashburn noted that the network has “amazing news resources” at their disposal, which means they can take coverage of the missing plane “to the next level.”

She then added, quite candidly and to her fellow panelists’ shock: “If I do want to know about news, I turn to CNN because it is 24/7!”

Video of this segment of the chat has already gone viral and, considering how much journalists from both networks have been dissing each other in the past couple of weeks, it’s no wonder that it did.
