A man died yesterday during a Fourth of July parade in the town of Bangor, Maine. The driver of a tractor trailer was killed by a fire truck, reports say.

According to WCSH 6, police say that the trailer was rear ended by the fire truck. The driver got out and he was run over by the fire department vehicle. The fire truck was an antique, officials say.

The accident happened on Water Street as the parade had been moved following a shooter situation on Park Street.

It was witnessed by many parade goers, who have been offered grief counseling by city of Bangor officials.

Police engaged in a standoff and opened fire several times on Park, as the road was closed off for a few hours.
