Reportedly seeded to developers Tuesday afternoon, Mac OS X 10.6.4 Build 10F54 is a 576.1MB download containing no known issues, people familiar with the software say. The previous build,10F50, presented issues related to incorrectly formatted marketing text. This week’s build has apparently resolved this problem, while focus areas remain the Graphics Drivers, SMB, USB, Voice Over and VPN.

In usual manner, World of Apple has been quick to obtain the original seed notes for the newest OS X development build, appropriately pointing out that, “Build 10F54 includes a multitude of fixes and for the first time in the testing cycle of Mac OS X 10.6.4 contains no known issues.” It adds that, “Mac OS X 10.6.4 build 10F54 weighs in at 576.1MB in its delta form,” and proceeds to post the seed notes for this build (reproduced below, courtesy of World of Apple).

Included in this update

- Resolve an issue that causes the keyboard or trackpad to become unresponsive; - Resolve an issue that may prevent some Adobe Creative Suite 3 applications from opening; - Address issues copying, renaming, or deleting files on SMB file servers; - Improve reliability of VPN connections; - Resolve a playback issue in DVD Player when using Good Quality deinterlacing; - Resolve an issue editing photos with iPhoto or Aperture in full screen view; - Improve VoiceOver compatibility with iMovie and GarageBand; - Improve compatibility with some braille displays.

Known Issues

- None.

Focus Areas

- GraphicsDrivers; - SMB; - USB; - VoiceOver; - VPN.

Given that little has changed with the software spanning four test builds, while the latest contains no known issues, some may be enticed to speculate that Mac OS X 10.6.4 should be close to its public release. While this is not out of the question (Mac OS X 10.6.2 being a good example of that, having spent very little time in development), it’s rather unlikely that Apple will not take its time trying to address whatever bugs may emerge. For instance, World of Apple believes the public unveiling will most likely be in the June timeframe (around Apple’s WWDC 2010 conference). Softpedia is inclined to believe this forecast is accurate.
