Foursquare is one of the hottest new web services and everyone is trying to build location into its services. With the launch of Facebook Places, the location-based service has been feeling the pressure.

While Facebook Places is by no means a replacement for Foursquare, it does enough to keep most people from starting to use the Foursquare.

The newly launched Foursquare 2.0 aims to challenge that by offering people a real reason to use the service.

While the 'new' features aren't exactly new, the emphasis on To-Dos and Tips may be exactly what Foursquare needs to do.

"When we started foursquare, we dreamed it would be much more than check-ins. We really wanted to build tools that would help people collect and share their real-world experiences," Foursquare announced.

"Today we’re rolling out the 2.0 version of our iPhone app as well as a new way to connect it to the web. We’ve been working on these updates for a while, and feel like they’re a big step towards our original idea," it said.

To-Dos are what you'd expect, with a location twist. Every time you're near a place you'd want to visit, you can set a to-do to remember to come back some time.

And when you do visit that location again, all of your saved to-dos will be displayed to make sure you don't forget anything.

Along with the new app, which will be rolled out for all platforms soon, Foursquare is also launching an "add to my foursquare" button for websites.

Businesses will be able to embed the button on their websites enabling users to add the real-world location to their Foursquare profile. A to-do is added to the users' list and they'll be notified if they check in at a nearby location.
