Foursquare for Android devices has just been updated with a new fresher look and several tweaks that makes it easier to navigate.

Although the application's performance could be better, the biggest change introduced with the latest update is the new design and cleaner look.

Those who are already familiar with the application will probably notice immediately that the ‘Check In’ button is now always up at the top, while the tabs are a bit more spaced out. Another important change is the 'Specials' feature, which is now place in Explore. Instead of just stumbling across Specials in the nearby places list, users will be able to search for deals near them, as the application will recommend them based on users' interest.

Foursquare for Android 2011.08.11 complete change log is detailed below:

- New redesign for title bars and tabs, check in button added to titlebar; - Explore redesigned with specials and more; - Added support for managing Facebook and Twitter sharing from Settings page; - Venue photos gallery redesign; - Share photo with venue when checking in; - Added option to save photos to SD card from Settings page; - Viewing items in notification tray clears push notifications in notification manager. However, the application has been plagued by a sever bug due to a bad communication with the built-in GPS, which made information about the user's location to be inaccurate.

Sometimes the user is shown as out of the country or far away from his actual location, or he cannot even check in to places very near.

This seems to be a Foursquare-related issue and not a GPS problem, as the GPS app always displays the correct position, while the Foursquare is still refusing to let the user check in.

Anyway, the application is now available as a free download from Android Market and is compatible with all devices running Android 1.6 or newer.
