Developers of Foursquare have just released a major update for their Android application, which promises to offer a smoother map experience.

According to them, users will be able to expand, swipe and zoom on map when they are on “home screen looking at friends and interesting places nearby, or searching for ‘iced coffee’ or ‘egg sandwich’ in Explore.”

With the latest version of Foursquare, users will be able to zoom the map in and tap “redo search” if they wish to see recommendations within a few blocks. Moving the map to see spots in another neighborhood is also possible.

Foursquare 2013.04.02 is now available as a free download via Google Play Store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.2 and up. Check it out here.
