The software now focuses on friends rather than on maps

Those of you who enjoy taking advantage of the features and capabilities of Foursquare on your Android devices will be happy to know that a new flavor of the application is now available for download.

The updated software brings along new “swipey maps,” enabling users to easily flick through nearby places or specials to find what they are looking for after they tap to search.

The application’s interface is no longer focused on the map homescreen, but brings friends and suggestions to the front instead. Furthermore, as Android Central notes, the application also features a cleaner look, with deeper colors and flatter styling.

To go to the map view, simply hit the search button, the menu key, or tap a suggested place. The features and capabilities of the software itself, however, haven’t been modified in the new release, it seems.

You can download Foursquare for Android from Softpedia today, as long as you have a device running under Android 2.2 or newer OS version.
