The official Foursquare Symbian mobile application is now available for download on Nokia phones straight from the Ovi Store.

The native client was expected for quite some time now to land on handsets running under the Symbian platform, and now Foursquare made the solution available.

The new application can be installed on handsets powered by the Symbian 5.0 and Symbian^3 platform versions, while also being available for Nokia smartphones running under the older Symbian 3.2 platform.

Foursquare helps you find new ways to explore the world around you. See where your friends are, learn about the places they frequent, keep track of all the things you want to do and learn about new things to experience from your friends,” the app is described in the Ovi Store.

Basically, the new mobile application offers access to all Foursquare features, including the possibility to check into favorite places, to see friends’ check ins, read info on a place, and more.

One of the most important features of the mobile application is an exclusive Home Screen Widget, which offers info on friends’ latest check ins without having the application launched, and which also enables users check in faster than anyone else.

In case there are some who might have never heard of Foursquare, we should note that it comes as a web and mobile application aimed at offering users the possibility to easily connect with friends and share their location.

Moreover, the app awards points for “checking in” at venues, and provides the possibility for users to have their check-ins posted on their accounts on social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook.

The company already made mobile applications available for other operating systems out there, including iPhone, Android, BlackBerry or Palm handsets, and now on Nokia Symbian handsets.

Those of you who own a compatible Nokia mobile phone and would like to try out the new application should head over to the Ovi Store here.

it's a poorly thought app.it can't log you in,it needs a gps position to create a new account resulting in the use of 3G,and most important of all it doesn't have a simple exit button in the main menu.
