Foursquare, the popular location-based service through which users can explore places around them easier and in a more interesting manner, is now available for users of Series 40 devices too.

The new Foursquare for Series 40 mobile application is expected to provide millions of people the opportunity to access the exciting world of Foursquare.

A Foursquare mobile client was previously included in the Ovi Store, aimed at owners of S60 devices interested in trying out the service on their handsets.

The new software arrives as a mobile java based application on a range of Nokia mobile phones and offers easy checking in to places or sharing of location with friends.

“Foursquare for Series 40 is a mobile java based application which works across a range of Nokia devices and gives millions more people access to the exciting world of Foursquare,” Nokia Beta Labs explains.

“Share your location with friends by checking into places while collecting points and virtual badges,” the development team continues.

Some of the main features of this mobile application include Shout, Check in, Venueless check in ('check in here anyway'), Search places, Add place, Recent checkins from friends, User info, or Manage friend requests.

However, these are not the only features that Foursquare for Series 40 mobile application would include, as its developers plan on expanding the range even more in the near future.

The software works on a range of S40 devices, and has been tested on 5310, 6600 fold, 7230, C3-00, C3-01, X3-02. Users who will download and install the application on their devices are encouraged to offer feedback on it.

“Especially, we are interested in what are the features and functionality that you would like to see and how the application works on different device models and in different countries,” Nokia Beta Labs notes.

Additional info on the mobile software can be found in the video embedded below. The application is available for download from Softpedia too, via this link.
