It seems that Toshiba is not the only one releasing new notebooks, though Micro-Star International doesn't seem to have focused on odd design options as much as its rival when it made the newest F machines.

MSI has once again updated its collection of mobile personal computers, this time with four new models dubbed FR620 and FX620, FR720 and FX720 laptop.

The first two have display sizes of 15.6 inches, while the other two are larger, measuring 17.3 inches.

They may not have the same color-changing lid as Toshiba's Dynabook Qosmio T750, but they do seem to win in terms of performance parameters.

As all members of the same lines, there are a variety of things that the products have in common, and this extends to more than just their type of processors.

In addition to the 2nd generation Core CPUs (Sandy Bridge), there is the obligatory DDR3 memory (unspecified amount) and a HDD.

Said hard disk can have a capacity of 150 GB, 320 GB or 500 GB, while a DVD drive or Blu-ray writer handles optical media.

The 15.6-inch FR620 and FX620 have screens with a native resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels, while the other two have 17.3-inch 1,600 x 900 pixel panels.

One would, therefore, expect the latter two to have better graphics, but is the FX models, namely the 15.6-inch FX620 and the 17.3-inch FX720, that have discrete GPUs.

The graphics card in question is the NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M, with 1 GB VRAM, while the FR notebooks settle for the built-in CPU graphics core.

Other specifications include Gigabit Ethernet, four speakers with THX TruStudio Pro technology, USB 3.0 (2 ports) and an HDMI connector.

All of the above configurations are kept operational by 6-cell batteries and are completed by 4-in-1 card readers and 720p-recording webcams. Unfortunately, while the press release did have the specifications, no prices were given.
