Four Disasters Bomb Britney in One Day

Soon there will be no one fighting on the trainwreck front

September 17th should be known for all posterity as "the BD day". BD for "Britney Disaster", that is, as the unfortunate popwreck was hit from all sides by a bout of misfortunes that would send a stronger person than she is hiding at the bottom of the bed with a box of tissues for about a lifetime. But seeing how she has brought most of that misfortune onto herself - or so it would seem - it's kind of difficult to figure out if we should feel mostly pity or if we should just start a campaign for Britney's forceful admission into a mental facility for treatment.

Here's a summary of the freaky Monday - and I can't help myself wondering, if Monday was like this, what will happen by the end of the week?

Disaster number one: Gloria Allred's hyped "secret witness" is ready to testify about "issues of nudity by Ms. Spears, drug use and safety issues involving the children". The mystery part is over - the man in question is 28 and is named Tony Baretto. He was Britney's bodyguard for a short while (about a month or so) and was reportedly fired because he failed to hear Brit telling him to pick up her hat. Baretto didn't testify, but his written allegations were entered into court as evidence.

Disaster number two: Spears's lawyer, Laura Wasser jumped ship. Although her last act as Brit Brit's attorney was to strongly deny Baretto's accusations and state that "he isn't a credible witness", Wasser announced she'll be officially stepping down from her position. Her role will be taken up by another famous lawyer, Marci Levine. In an attempt to soften the blow, Wasser stated that "Britney will be in excellent hands. I don't want anyone to perceive that we're dumping Britney. In a lot of attorney-client relationships, there comes a time when some fresh blood is necessary". Translated from elegant lawyer-talk, that means she probably found Brit unmanageable. I think it would have been better if she had just said that - after all, we're all familiar with the Britney trainwreck in some way, whether we want to or not.

Disaster number three: she may be losing the kids. Fox has reported that according to reliable sources, the ruling giving Federline temporary custody of his and Spears' children was expected to be handed down in Los Angeles Family Court later Monday (yesterday) afternoon.

Disaster number four: Brit's manager, Jeff Kwatinetz of the Firm dumped her as a client after being her representative for little over a month. "It saddens us to confirm media reports that we have terminated our professional relationship with Britney Spears. We believe Britney is enormously talented, and has made a terrific record. But current circumstances have prevented us from properly doing our job. We wish Britney the best".
