Fotoxx, an open source, free, and powerful image manipulation software for Linux kernel-based operating systems has reached version 15.04, an important release that brings several new features, various improvements, as well as bugfixes.

As noted in the release notes, Fotoxx 15.04 introduces Zonal Flatten, a new function that allows users to enhance contrast in dull areas. This a really powerful function that works even if the overall contrast and brightness have been optimized.

Directed Blur is another new functionality implemented in Fotoxx. It is created from the ground up to allow 1D (1-dimensional) image blur in the direction of the mouse drag. The new version is now capable of extracting thumbnails from RAW image files that contain .ppm thumbs.

The Slide Show and Album Edit components received various improvements

The Slide Show component of the application received support for stopping and resuming a slideshow, new image transitions, including Japanese fan, implode, and explode, as well as support for jumping to a new position.

With Fotoxx 15.04, users will now be able to view any image in full size in the Album edit component when arranging and/or adding photos. The print dialog has been modified to accept margin inputs in centimeters or inches.

In addition to the above, the brand-new release of Fotoxx introduces a new user setting that allows you to hide or display hidden directories in the gallery view mode of the application. More details about Fotoxx 15.04 can be found in the official release announcement.

Last but not least, a bug has been fixed in the print dialog, as it displayed an incorrect print size. You can download Fotoxx 15.04 right now from Softpedia, where is it distributed as a source package, as well as binaries for the Ubuntu Linux operating system.
