Developers have added even more features

Fotoxx is a free, open source Linux photo editing application that is appealing to both beginners and advanced users. A new update has been made available by the developer, bringing even more features and options.

The Fotoxx application has been present on the Linux platform for many years, as the version number suggests. Its developers had time to add all sorts of features and capabilities, and now the application is one of the best that you can find for editing photos and digital management of the collection.

The latest update released now is not as big as some of the previous ones. The devs have focused on some of the more obscure options in Fotoxx, so it's no shame if you don't recognize some of the functions.

What the devs are saying about the latest Fotoxx

"Navigate a large image collection using a thumbnail browser, click on an image to view or edit. A rich set of edit and retouch functions is available (see examples below). Import RAW files and edit with deep color. Save revised images as JPEG, BMP, PNG (8/16 bits), or TIFF (8/16). Select an object or area within an image (freehand outline, follow edges, select matching tones, ... ), apply edit functions, copy and paste, resize, blend, warp, etc. without using layers. Edit functions have fast feedback using the full image. Add metadata (tags, geotags, dates, ratings, captions ...) to images. Search images using any metadata and/or folder and file names or partial names," reads the official website.

These are just a tiny portion of the Fotoxx features and more are just waiting to be discovered and used. The program is only available on the Linux platform and the developer has promised that it will remain on this OS and that it will be free forever.

Among the new options introduced with the latest update there are a few that really stand out. For example, users can now set independently the horizontal and vertical wavelength, magnitude, and variance, it's now much easier to draw simple lines and arrows, the gallery should make much better use of the space, the panels will now adjust for high DPI monitors, the Print Image function has been fixed, and various other bugs and crashes have been corrected.

A complete list of changes and updates can be found in the official announcement. You can download Fotoxx 14.10.1 right now from Softpedia. This is binary file, so users should be able to install it with great ease.
