Fotopedia, creator of the first collaborative photographic encyclopedia, has released its new iOS application called Memory of Colors. In the developer’s own words, the app presents “the amazing colors of humankind’s last treasures.”

The app is said to take viewers on a photographic journey through disappearing cultures around the world, while dishing out a message of peace, tolerance, and respect.   Memory of Colors features a rich collection of portraits that provide a look at humanity’s fragile diversity in over 18 countries, from Algeria to Yemen, the developer said.

It is touted as being unlike anything that has been on an iOS device before.

In fact, Fotopedia calls it a “masterpiece” created by respected photographer Jaime Ocampo-Rangel.

It took no less than 12 years to complete, and required a colossal amount of research, logistics, and diplomacy, Fotopedia said.

First exhibited at UNESCO’s headquarters in 2010, the project is assembled in an infinite color palette, where each color represents a facet of human culture, and hopes to impact not only current viewers, but generations to come as well.

“Our mission is to help people discover and explore the beauty of the world,” said Jean-Marie Hullot, CEO, Fotopedia. “Memory of Colors is an app with a purpose, an appeal to the protection of our cultural treasures.”

“I set out to preserve the beauty of these people before it’s too late, and create a pause in time and space to capture this world’s last authentic images,” added Jaime Ocampo-Real. “Fotopedia has allowed me to introduce these civilizations to an unprecedented audience that would otherwise have no idea of their existence.”

According to the published list of features attributed to Memory of Colors, iDevice owners will get more than 1,300 spectacular high-resolution portraits, wallpapers, instant slideshows, rich information on each photograph, the ability to shake-to-shuffle and discover new images at random, and social media integration.

Fotopedia’s Memory of Colors is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad and requires iOS 3.1.3 to run.

Available now at an insignificant $0.99 introductory price, Memory of Colors should be a must have for anyone with sensitive taste in human culture and evolution.
