Foscam has released a new firmware package targeted at its FI9821W V2 IP camera, namely version 2.11.2.8, which includes a few changes that raise the device’s security level.

In other words, this fresh update now protects all code decryption, username, and password characters and resolves an issue regarding the Settings interface and a specific plug-in.

Besides the 2.11.2.8 app firmware, this package also includes system firmware version 1.4.1.9 as well as the 2.0.2.10 plug-in variant.

Therefore, if you wish to install this release, first reboot the camera, connect it to a computer network via an Ethernet cable (wireless connection isn’t recommended), and remove any SD card.

Now, get and expand the downloadable archive, log into the camera web UI, go to Settings → System → System Upgrade → Browse, navigate and select the “FosIPC_A_sys_ver1.4.1.9.bin” file, and then click the “System Upgrade” button.

Wait for the installation to complete and for the camera to restart and repeat the same steps, only this time select the “FosIPC_A_app_ver2.x.2.8.bin” file. When finished, log in once more to the web UI to check if the currently installed versions match the latest ones.

That being said, download Foscam FI9821W V2 IP Camera Firmware 2.11.2.8, take into account all the aforementioned aspects, apply the new release, and enjoy your newly updated IP camera.
