Microsoft and Playground Games have confirmed the first 100 vehicles that are included in Forza Horizon 2, their upcoming racing experience for the Xbox One and Xbox 360, revealing that in total over 200 cars are in the standard roster of the new title.

Forza Horizon delighted quite a lot of racing game fans back in 2012 on the Xbox 360, bringing forth a new racing experience in the Forza series but with an emphasis on an open world environment, instead of the tracks seen in the Forza Motorsport games.

With Forza Horizon 2, Playground Games is hoping that fans will come back to the open world experience on the Xbox 360, but also on the new Xbox One.

Quite a lot of details have appeared in recent months and now the studio, together with Microsoft, has started showcasing the various rides included in Forza Horizon 2.

According to the announcement on the Xbox Wire, the first 100 cars have been presented, out of the total 200+ vehicles included in the new racing game.

Apparently, all the cars have been designed from the ground up for Forza Horizon 2 in order to take advantage of its many new features, such as the weather system and much more.

"All of the cars in Forza Horizon 2 have been built from the ground up for this generation with the utmost care and detail, taking full advantage of the power of Xbox One and Forza Horizon 2’s dynamic weather and wide-open world, including new features such as functioning windshield wipers, working headlights and interior lights, and dynamic dirt-mapping."

Playground Games has also pledged to deliver an eclectic roster of vehicles in Forza Horizon 2, starting with its cover star, the 2015 Lamborghini Huracan and all sorts of other iconic racing machines.

"Forza Horizon 2 will feature a huge and diverse lineup of awesome cars to collect, customize, and drive. That means everything from state-of-the-art supercars like our cover car, the 2015 Lamborghini Huracán, to Group B rally legends, monster off-roaders, classic American muscle cars, and much more. Leading into launch we’ll continue to reveal more to get you ready for the ultimate racing experience coming on September 30."

Five of the never-before-seen cars of Forza Horizon 2 have been detailed, in the form of the 1973 Renault Alpine A110 1600S, 2009 Vauxhall Corsa VXR, 1945 Jeep Willys MB, 1963 Volkswagen Type 2 De Luxe, and 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE.
