Microsoft and Playground Games have confirmed that they're going to release a special free demo for Forza Horizon 2 this fall, on September 16, so that all Xbox One owners can try out the new racing game.

Forza Horizon 2 is the next big entry in the franchise and Microsoft has brought back Forza Horizon 1 developer Playground Games to bring the series onto the Xbox One, and Sumo Digital to adapt Forza Horizon 2 onto the Xbox 360.

After hyping it up at different trade shows, confirming the sprawling car roster, and sharing details about different mechanics, Microsoft has now revealed on the Xbox Wire that a special demo is going to appear for Forza Horizon 2.

The free trial is set to debut for the Xbox One platform on September 16. As of yet, it's unlikely that an Xbox 360 version of the demo will appear.

"Explore the beauty of southern Europe in a handful of the world’s most beautiful cars in this demo, which has been designed to give you a brief taste of what to expect when Forza Horizon 2 launches."

After two weeks, on September 30, the full-fledged version of the game is going to be released on Xbox One and Xbox 360.
