Expect to see plenty of new cars and other things appear

Forza Horizon 2 developer Playground Games has emphasized that the new racing experience will be enriched with plenty of downloadable content for a long time, continuing the tradition already established by previous titles in the series.

Forza Horizon 2 continues from where the original left off, delivering a special open world experience in which players can roam around and participate in all sorts of different events, from regular point to point races to circuit challenges and many others.

Horizon 2 is going to be improved via DLC

Of course, like with previous games, the title's car roster and list of activities will increase via downloadable content that's going to appear after the actual launch at the end of the month.

This is at least according to Playground Games Creative Director Ralph Fulton, who has talked with Videogamer about how Horizon 2 is going to receive its DLC and how the whole experience is going to improve as more and more add-ons appear.

"We are definitely looking at ways to expand the experience as we go forward," Fulton explains. "I think that's one of the strengths of Forza. We do support our games post-launch and you've seen that perfectly with Forza Motorsport 5, almost continuing to justify that purchase that people made on day one. I absolutely envisage without giving you any specifics that that's something we'll continue to do in Horizon."

Players are also going to have plenty of things do

Besides enriching the game via downloadable content, Fulton also explains that there will be plenty of side activities to keep players hooked on the experience after they complete the campaign and the many other events in Forza Horizon 2.

These include a Bucket List Challenge, which consists of a series of events with specific objectives and themes that are scattered throughout the game's big open world. 30 such races will be available in the regular game and more will be added to the large environment after launch, either via free or premium DLC.

Speaking of downloadable content, Microsoft and Playground have already confirmed that a free launch-day DLC pack is going to be available at no extra charge on September 30, when Forza Horizon 2 launches on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 platforms.

There's also the VIP membership that comes with other free cars and the actual season Car Pass, which allows owners to get six monthly DLC packs for free in Forza Horizon 2.
