Forza Horizon 2, one of the best exclusive titles for Xbox One, is about to get its first major expansion in the form of a new DLC. Storm Island has just recently been confirmed by developer Playground Games and those who own the base game should expect to hit their consoles sometime today.

The Storm Island DLC will not be available for free though, so Forza Horizon 2 players who want to get the new content will have to pay $19.99 (€19.99), while VIP members can purchase it for only $9.99 (€9.99).

Playground Games didn’t do a season pass for Forza Horizon 2, just a car pass, which does not include the upcoming DLC. This means that there’s no way to get it for free, no matter what version of the game you previously purchased.

All content to be released for Forza Horizon 2 is likely to be included in some sort of “Definitive Edition,” which developers will probably want to monetize but this has yet to be confirmed.

Six new cars, extreme weather and a new Rampage Mode will be included

Moving on to the contents of the DLC, developers claim Storm Island will bring some of the most extreme racing Forza Horizon 2 has ever seen.

Car racing game fans will be thrilled to know the map expansion will add 6 new cars to the game, including off-road raid truck.

Keep in mind that the new area of the map called Storm Island will not be included in the map appearing in the base game, but you will be able to access it separately after you purchase the DLC.

Bu there’s more to it, as Playground Games confirmed Storm Island DLC will also bring no less than 80 new events, along with a brand new Rampage mode.

Given the developer’s wish to add some extreme racing into the game, expect extreme weather to be part of the new content as well. Also, a new Barn Find, new Playground Arenas, new Bucket List and a new car meet will be included in the expansion as well.

Last but not least, a new Gauntlet event will make its debut in the Storm Island DLC, which is expected to arrive on Xbox One later today.

Although developers haven’t mentioned which new cars will be added with the expansion, there’s a high chance that the following cars will make their debut in Storm Island DLC: 1985 MG Metro 6R4, 1992 Mitsubishi Galant VR4 and 2013 Mini Countryman Dakar.
