Forza Horizon 2 is set to debut later this month, and in honor of the racing game's debut, Microsoft has prepared a real-life road trip across Southern Europe, in which teams will compete in different challenges that are possible inside the game itself.

Forza Horizon 2 promises to continue the open world experience brought forth by the first Horizon installment into the Forza Motorsport franchise, only this time it takes the action to the Southern parts of Europe, featuring environments from Italy, France, or Spain, not to mention Monaco and other idyllic parts of the old continent.

A real-life road trip for the virtual game

In order to promote the game ahead of its release, Microsoft is pulling out all the stops and has just confirmed the ForzaFuel road trip, a real-life challenge that sees eight teams race across Southern Europe and compete in different challenges.

"Each day, teams will go head-to-head in a series of daily Car Challenges inspired by Forza Horizon 2, including racing against a helicopter and taking on a high-intensity rally track. Fans are invited to join the competition at home and with each challenge, they can compete along with teams to earn currency called #ForzaFuel," Microsoft explains on its website.

"As they follow the challenges and acquire #FORZAFUEL, fans at home will get involved too, competing to earn extra fuel for their chosen team in daily Fan Challenges set by their team captains - key YouTube influencers from the gaming community."

The eight teams will pilot exclusive supercars like the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S, the 2014 McLaren 650S, or the game's cover star, the Lamborghini Huracan.

From Italy to Spain

There will be four stops along the road trip, starting with Bologna, in Italy, and reaching Barcelona, in Spain.

"The #ForzaFuel route starts in Bologna, Italy, where contestants will meet their first challenge – 'Get to the Choppa' – where teams will go head-to-head with a helicopter to earn #ForzaFuel. Next they are onto Monaco, with its prestigious car heritage, where they will use live Twitch Live Stream to help complete their challenge."

In Marseille, France, teams will have to endure a new event called Speed Dating, while in Barcelona the final challenge is called I Love Dirt and will probably take the supercars through some off-road environments before the road trip ends.

Expect to see lots of details about the Forza Horizon 2 ForzaFuel event as we get closer to its start on September 15, next week.
