Epic Games has talked a bit more about the free-to-play nature of Fortnite, its upcoming shooter, and revealed that it will be quite similar to other PC experiences like League of Legends, Dota 2, or Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.

Fortnite has finally received some more details from developer Epic Games this month, confirming how the game will combine third-person shooter and combat with crafting and scavenging for resources.

After learning about the classes, core premise, and different gameplay mechanics, fans can get an idea of the free-to-play nature of Fortnite, via CVG.

Apparently, Epic Games will release the game for free on PC but it's examining closely successful free-to-play games like League of Legends from Riot Games or Dota 2 from Valve, but also Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, from Blizzard.

The MOBA titles make money from microtransactions based on skins and cosmetic items, so Epic could easily produce different things for the characters in the game. Hearthstone, however, sells packs with better chances for great cards that can be used against others.

Overall, considering a Fortnite alpha will soon start, Epic is going to have to finalize the free-to-play aspect as soon as possible, so that fans don't feel like they're being taken advantage of.
