Advanced persistent threats (APT) are a major issue for most organizations, which is why Fortinet’s FortiGuard Labs has launched new cloud-based sandboxing and IP reputation services.

The new services will enhance the protection capabilities of network and application security platforms such as FortiDNS, FortiDDoS, FortiWeb, FortiGate and FortiCloud.

The cloud-based sandboxing service detects malware by running it in a virtual environment and monitoring its behavior. This adds an extra layer of protection to already existing solutions.

The results of the scan can be viewed via a new online sandboxing portal.

The FortiGuard IP reputation services are designed to analyze and monitor IP addresses that behave abnormally or ones that are compromised. Honeypots, historical analysis and botnet analysis are utilized to make the service more efficient.

“The new services announced today offer a strategic approach to detect and respond to breaking threats from numerous attack vectors. Modern threats strike and shift quickly and so should detection,” said Derek Manky, global security strategist for Fortinet.
