Former member of Spice Girls, Mel B, sold only 670 copies of her latest album, hitting an all-time low career selling record. Scary Spice, full name Melanie Brown, released her second solo album, LA State Of Mind, last month, on June 27. The album didn't make it in Top 25 and, with the 600 copies sold this far, is not due to enter the Top 200.
"Because LA State of Mind's chart position is so low, it doesn't register on any of the available data," chart expert Genarro Castaldo from music store HMV said
A source added, "It really is a tragically bad chart position. But actually the album's not that bad."
Mel B refused to join a desired reunited Spice Girls performance for the Live 8 concerts, arguing she's focusing on her solo career and on her latest album release.
In the '90, the Spice Girls' debut album sold 20 million copies. Mel's first album "Hot" made it to No 28 in 2000.
The band enjoyed substantial commercial success through from 1996 to 2000, and are the biggest-selling girl group of all time, having sold in excess of 45 million albums and 30 million singles.
They are also famous for popularising the term "Girl Power". The group, consisting of Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm, and Melanie Brown have not formally broken up (a fifth member, Geri Halliwell having left in 1998), but have not performed together or released any new recordings since 2000. Posh Spice, Baby Spice, Sporty Spice and Scary Spice have all released solo materials.
