Former Miss Argentina Solange Magnano, 38 and a mother of two, has died following complications stemming from what was deemed a standard cosmetic intervention to make her behind firmer. Critics are considering her death as coming to stress once more that plastic surgery should never be taken lightly as it continues to be, no matter how many women jump on the bandwagon, a procedure like any other medical intervention, which means it also entails great risks that they should factor in, the Daily Mail informs.

Magnano ran in the Miss Universe beauty pageant as representative of her country back in 1994, which also marked the beginning of a very successful modeling career for her. She was unlike the beauties we see today on the catwalk, designer friend Roberto Piazza is now telling the media, in that she did not at first stress to much about achieving what one may call standardized beauty at first at least. After giving birth to twins she had a breast lift and had recently become concerned about the shape of her backside.

So she traveled to Buenos Aires, where she had scheduled for a gluteoplasty, a procedure that would have brought more volume to her backside by means of implants. Immediately after surgery, she was rushed to a clinic with breathing problems and, three days later, she died from pulmonary embolism. Police are now investigating the case to see whether the doctors who performed the surgery were at fault but critics are already saying that this is a very clear example of how women lose their life in their quest for unattainable beauty and perfection.

“Solange was a girl who had everything. She lived the life of a goddess, she was the envy of everybody. Now she is dead because she wanted a slightly firmer behind. She died because of her obsession with beauty. She was a fantastic model. When I first met her I thought ‘this girl is perfect.’ She had an amazing body, she wasn’t hyper-skinny, she had a voluptuous body, an exotic beauty.” Piazza says of the late model, as cited by the Mail.

Eventually Magnano started to realize that her modeling career was coming to an end, wherefrom her obsession with her looks. “Later she returned to Argentina, fell in love, married a very beautiful man and they lived in Cordoba, where they had twins. Then she started to miss the world of modeling. She was different, not a Barbie-like beauty. Until she started to become obsessed by her looks.” Piazza further explains.

Solange Magnano was buried on Monday in her home town.
