MTV seems to be on the creative downside and, lacking other brilliant ideas, is reuniting five boys (or, should we say, men?) from once famous boybands for a new reality show.
The five stars are Dane Bowers (Another Level), Danny Wood (New Kids on the Block), Bradley McIntosh (S Club 7), Jimmy Constable (911) and Lee Latchford-Evans (Steps) and, by their powers combined, they will make 'Totally Boyband' and try a major comeback on the music stage.
The men's age ranges from 24 to 37 and, between the five of them, they sold 87 million records and had 11 number one hits... back in the days when everybody knew who they were.
The new show will begin on September 17 on MTV and it will present their attempt at a revival of their music careers. When asked about their opinions on whether they still got what it takes, Dane Bowers answered for all of them:
'I don't see how it can turn out to be embarrassing for us because we're just doing what we do. Everybody has learned a lot about the music business so we all know what we're facing. Hopefully, we'll have some great songs, some hit singles and some fun along the way.'
The tag line for 'Totally Boyband' has been officially announced as 'They had it, they lost it, they want it back!'. Talk about shooting for the stars...
