Over the past month, Jake Davis, better known as Topiary of the LulzSec hacker group, has answered all sorts of questions on Ask.fm.

So far, he has answered over 150 questions on various topics, from what music and movies he likes to his implication in the notorious hacktivist crew.

For instance, he has revealed that LulzSec didn’t have any direct ties to WikiLeaks.

“The only communication between LulzSec and WikiLeaks was between an FBI informant on their end and an FBI informant on our end, both trying to entrap each other to incriminate both groups further, and likely both oblivious to the fact that the other was working for the same organization,” Davis explained.

The former hacker also noted that it took police around 2 hours and 30 minutes to knock on his door after posting his last message on Twitter.

Another interesting answer is one related to how LulzSec was born.

“We invented LulzSec during a very bored conversation on some abandoned IRC server. It was ‘Lulz Leaks’ but then I forgot all of the passwords and we had to change the name,” he explained.

“The top hat and monocle image was chosen at random from one of my Reaction Face folders with several thousand other, unrelated pictures. From there it was a case of making it up as we went along. I wouldn't even call it a conspiracy because that implies some level of organization.”

And, in case you were wondering, some LulzSec members were suspecting that something was not right about Sabu, aka Hector Monsegur, the man who ratted them out to authorities.

“Well there was a story about his grandmother dying that the FBI must have made up for him, which was a little strange as it had three variations and morphed as it needed to be. Apart from that he just wanted to engage in a lot more hacking than before, constantly referring to everyone as his ‘brothers’ and saying things like ‘we're all in this together’,” Davis said.
