After the world of football was nearly devastated with Gianluca Pessotto's suicide attempt almost a month ago, it seems that another tragedy happened. Actually, it's certain. Former India's football team captain, V.P. Sathyan, committed suicide yesterday morning, jumping in front of a train at suburban Pallavaram, according to PTI. Although it seemed like an accident at first sight, the police found a suicide note in his pocket. The situation resembles very much to Pessotto's, who previously told his wife that he has no reason to go on living any more.

Still,
if the Italian midfielder managed to stay alive - against his will, as it seems - after jumping from Juventus headquarters building, the Indian footballer did not have the same luck. The 41-year old former star of his national team took his own life because he drained his life in drinking and gambling. At least that's what he wrote to his wife in the suicide note that the police found in pocket.

"I have lost my wealth and also the wedding ring. I do not want to even phone you because I might change my mind about ending my life", said the terrifying note. He and his wife had a daughter of only 10 years of age. And it seems that Sathyan did not only address a letter to his wife, but to the Indian Football Federation president, Sports Secretary of India Bank and media as well.

In total, the police found 4 letters in the footballer's pockets. According to the Press Trust of India, Sathyan's body has been taken to his natal town of Kerala later in the night. All the officials inside the Indian Football were shocked by the news. "It is a huge shock for the football fraternity. His death is a great loss for the game in the country", said Alberto Colaco, the AIFF secretary.

Sathyan was captain of the Indian national team between 1980 and 1995. After his retirement from international football, he went ahead and became a national selector for the AIFF and worked as an assistant for head coach of the national team, Stephen Constantine.
