This past Friday, it was made public news that former first dog Barney Bush had died after battling lymphoma for a rather lenghty period of time.

The black Scottish terrier got to spend as many as 12 years living with George W. Bush and his family, who now find themselves struck with grief. Dallas News reports that, according to official information made available to the general public, Barney Bush was born back in 2000, on September 30.

Furthermore, his mom was a Scottish terrier belonging to former Environmental Protection Agency Director Christine Todd Whitman, whereas his dad was Kelly of Champion Motherwell Stormwarning.

Commenting on the loss of his beloved pet, former US President George W. Bush stated as follows:

“Barney was by my side during our eight years in the White House. He never discussed politics and was always a faithful friend. Laura and I will miss our pal.”

Despite the fact that Barney Bush used to be quite fond of hunting armadillos and chasing golf balls, he also knew when to behave and never showed any signs of disrespect towards the queens and heads of state he got the opportunity to meet while accompanying George W. Bush at work.
