Nonetheless, Kate often referred to crew members as “family” in public

By now it shouldn't be a secret that Kate Gosselin, the reality star who rose to fame thanks to the Discovery series “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” is a woman who always likes to have the last word. Bossy and ruthless, Kate used to say that the show's crew used to be “part of the family.”

One of the former members who used to work on the show back in the day begs to differ. Robert Hoffman was so appalled by the work conditions at the Gosselin household that he decided to write a book about his experience in order to set the record straight, according to Radar.

As you'd imagine, Kate ran a very tight ship and crew members were handed a very thick set of rules that were to be obeyed at all times in order to prevent any problems. This Bible was given the generic name “House Rules” and each member received a copy.

Among the most disturbing things present on the list is the fact that members of the crew were never supposed to use the same doors as the family, only a basement door on the side of the house. Of course, alcohol and tobacco were forbidden from the property, but also in the area surrounding it.

The crew wasn't allowed to use bathrooms in the Gosselin household, they had their own bathroom set up. Of course, when they did eventually get into the house (only accompanied by Kate or Jon), they had to take off their shoes or to wear booties “that have been NOT worn outside!” the rules specifically mentioned.

Not only was the crew not allowed to go to the bathroom in the Gosselin house, but they weren't allowed to bring any food or drink either. Any eating had to be done in an apartment especially set up for the production personnel.

Then there's little things like exclamation marks to enforce closing of all doors, removal of all trash and, above all, making sure that no equipment was ever left behind.

Finally, Kate warned any and all people coming into her home in connection with the reality show: “Please remember, this is not a ‘set’ (or a college dorm!) – its our home!!!! We are very proud of this house, please treat it with care!!!!!!!”

Just in case you weren't counting, there were over 10 exclamation marks in the last part of the “House Rules,” because apparently Kate felt the need to emphasize her every statement with some form of punctuation to stress its importance.

We don't know how things go down at your house, but that is not the way people usually treat other members of their family where we come from.
