Oddly enough, the company doesn't bother with 3D support at all

You'd think that a display with 120 Hz refresh rate or above would have natural 3D support, but if that's the case with the Foris FG2421, then EIZO Corporation isn't saying it. Which is doubly odd because the refresh rate is actually double that: 240 Hz.

3D is produced on LCDs by showing two sets of images at once, each at 60 Hz minimum and aimed at one of the two eyes.

So one would assume that a display with 240 Hz would be able to render 3D even better, more smoothly and leading to less eye strain.

EIZO didn't really bother with 3D here though. Instead, it gave the Foris FG2421 a panel of 240 Hz (Turbo 240 technology converts 120 Hz signals to 240 Hz) because it wanted the best response time and smoothest image.

It's all so that even the fastest-paced shooters can be played without missing targets because of screen lag.

For whoever wants the exact technical numbers, the response time is of 1 ms, which is quite a bit beyond the average 5 ms or, heaven forbid, the up to 18 ms of certain business or industrial displays.

What's more, EIZO implemented two color modes, one for FPS (first-person shooter) and one for RTS (real-time strategy) games.

Professional gamers from Fnatic, a leading eSports team, helped co-develop those modes. The contrast, gamma and brightness settings will be modified for the best experience, or so they claim.

If your opinion differs, never fear. EIZO also included three fully-customizable modes, where you can set or import your own preferences.

As for the rest, the newcomer has 176° viewing angles, a high native contrast ratio of 5000:1 (for deep blacks and visibility in dark scenes), a USB hub, three display inputs (HDMI, DisplayPort, and DVI-D), and support for PCs, consoles, Blu-ray players, cameras, media players, etc. There are even line-out jacks (for external speakers) and headphone jacks included.

EIZO will ship the Foris FG2421 with the ScreenManager Pro for Gaming software, which can download gaming presets used by pro gamers.

Finally, the 24-inch Full HD LCD (1920 x 1080 pixels) has an ambient light sensor (adjusts brightness accordingly and can be disabled), an illuminated EIZO logo on the back (on a glossy surface surrounded by a vermillion frame) and a stand with height, tilt and swivel adjustment, plus a cable holder. Sadly, no price has been provided.
