Forget about Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7 and about Mozilla's Firefox 2.0 and even about Gran Paradiso. There is a new browser in Windows town, and it has been transitioned from the Apple Mac OS X platform. That's right, Apple's Safari is the fresh new Windows Vista and Windows XP alien browser, and the Cupertino based company has made a variant available for download immediately. Under the slogan "The world's best browser.

Now on Windows, too" Apple has unveiled Safari 3 public beta delivering support for Windows Vista and Windows XP. "Experience the web, Apple style with Safari: the fastest, easiest to use web browser in the world. With its simple, elegant interface, Safari gets out of your way and lets you enjoy the web - up to 2 times faster than Internet Explorer," reads an announcement posted on the Safari 3 download page.

On the first day at the Apple World Wide Developer conference 2007 in San Francisco, the company's Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs unveiled Safari 3. It is not a coincidence that four years ago, also in June, Microsoft announced that it would no longer develop Internet Explorer 5 for Mac. Back in 2003, the Redmond Company cited as the main reason for its decision to stop IE5 for Mac development, Apple's competition with its Safari browser. On June 11 2007, Jobs launched Safari for the rival platform. "We think Windows users are going to be really impressed when they see how fast and intuitive web browsing can be with Safari," Jobs said. "Hundreds of millions of Windows users already use iTunes, and we look forward to turning them on to Safari's superior browsing experience too."

Safari 3 is currently in public beta stage, and Apple plans to integrate it into Mac OS X 1.5 Leopard in October. In the same month, the Cupertino-based company will launch the final version of Safari 3 for Windows Vista, Windows XP and Tiger.
