Forget Kate Moss. Doherty's Engaged!

Oh my God! Bring out the booze, the coke and the crack pipe, people. The Romanian-born model Irina Lazareanu just dropped the bomb and let everyone know that she was engaged to the Babyshambles front man and the world's most famous drugged out train wreck Pete Doherty. Well, what was I saying - bring on the booze, everybody, and make sure there are plenty of journalists around so that Kate Moss also gets the charming news.

The fact is Irina Lazareanu confirmed she will soon be walking down an aisle with Doherty, thus ruining my day and confirming that Doherty wouldn't be hooking up with Courtney Love any time soon - although you never know. Actually, I was really banking on a Love - Doherty - Moss triangle. Just think of all the possibilities! This relationship had true potential, people - and now, if Lazareanu is not by some lucky coincidence engaged to Doherty's long lost twin, it's all ruined, at least for a while. But never fear - stranger things have happened.

"I very recently got engaged" Lazareanu stated, but gave no further details as to whether any date had been set for the big day. Doherty and Lazareanu have known each other (and by that I mean slept together and wrote music both for Babyshambles and with mutual friend Sean Lennon) for years. The truly nasty part is that Lazareanu was actually a good friend of Kate Moss, who handpicked her to model some of her own Top Shop collection and also appear in the issue of Vogue she guest edited. Talk about being stabbed in the back�

Can you imagine Doherty's wedding? Fountains of booze, huge piles of cocaine on every surface, pink-and-gold crack pipes and gift bags filled with...well, more drugs. I won't take nay of the "he's clean now" nonsense. And I strongly think his engagement is just to make Kate Moss jealous. But then again, when it comes to Doherty, you just never know. However, the coincidence is a bit too much, considering how only last week Moss was bragging to her gang of friends about how she had just got engaged to her new man and rock singer Jamie Hince.
